This is a dual purpose material and filter layer. On its own, it's the stock allegorithmic steel, but with added *Hot Metal* tarnish - gradient was captured from photosource with designer's gradient picker.
disable the steel layer and set the folder blend mode to Pass Thru, and the gradient will affect layers below it, for burn-tarnishing of anything you like.

Yup, i always wanted to use this kind of effect, just didn't know where to start making it. couldn't find the right color patern, you nailed it, nice job
are we able to paint the burned parts wherever we want? would be awesome if we could .. this way the material would be dynamic
of course. the burn gradient map operates on the color input, just place a paint filter in the stack and you can correct it in the layer - or simply ensure that you can paint somewhere below the burnmetal filter in the layer. it's easy to control.
This one is awesome!

When I use this material on one of my models it resets a lot of the values and has no materials assigned. However, when I use it on a preview sphere it works perfectly fine. Anyone have an idea why this might be?
